Experience

Fausto has over 20 years of experience, advising local and international clients on Competition matters (Organic Law on Market Power Regulation and Control), Consumer Protection, Personal Data Protection, Regulation and Compliance.

He represents large organizations and corporations in consulting and litigation on antitrust matters, termination commitments and leniency programs, mergers and acquisitions subject to prior control, market regulation, and the planning and implementation of compliance programs.

Fausto has participated in cases related to the pharmaceutical, brewery, food, cement, aeronautical, retail, insurance, telecommunications, automotive, health, and liquor markets, among others.

He was the First Free Competition Authority in Ecuador, author of the Organic Law on Market Power Regulation and Control, and an external consultant for several international organizations on competition and consumer protection, including the Andean Community, the EU, the IDB and the CAF.

Fausto is the President of the Ecuadorian Institute of Competition Law (IEDC) and university professor of Competition Law for multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programs. From 2009 to 2011, he was Vice Minister and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Integration and Fisheries.
