Corporate Contribution to the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SCVS)
Companies domiciled in Ecuador that are under the control of the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SCVS) and whose real assets exceed USD 100,000 are required to pay the corporate contribution established by that regulatory body on an annual basis. The general payment deadline expires on September 30 of each year, as of which date surcharges and interest for late payment accrue.
The SCVS provides for three payment modalities: payment of the full amount by September 30 without surcharges; a 50/50 installment payment facility, under which 50% is paid by September 30 and the remaining 50% by December 31, upon prior request through the SCVS's electronic platform before the initial deadline expires; and payment arrangements of up to 12 months for companies unable to meet the established deadlines, subject to the corresponding legal interest when the request is submitted after the deadline.
Payment of the corporate contribution is only valid through the authorized collection channels: the teller windows of Banco del Pacífico and Banco Guayaquil (in cash or certified check, indicating the company's file number), the online banking services of both institutions, and the online payment button on the SCVS's institutional portal. Deposits or transfers made directly to the SCVS's institutional accounts, without using these official channels, are not considered valid payments and do not extinguish the obligation.
Companies are advised to periodically verify, through the SCVS Information Portal, whether they have outstanding amounts for contributions or other corporate obligations, and to keep the payment receipts issued through the authorized channels as evidence of compliance with the obligation.
