30% Security Surcharge on Imports from Colombia
On January 21, 2026, the President of the Republic announced, through a post on his X account, the application of a 30% security surcharge on imports originating from Colombia, effective February 1, 2026.
The President stated that this measure is adopted “due to the lack of reciprocity and firm actions” by the Colombian government in addressing “criminal groups linked to drug trafficking along the border.”
Likewise, he indicated that this measure “will remain in force until there is a genuine commitment to jointly combat drug trafficking and illegal mining along the border.”
