The Government of Colombia has announced the application of a 30% tariff on certain products of Ecuadorian origin entering Colombian territory, as part of recently adopted trade measures.
The Government of Colombia, through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, defined the list of products that will be subject to temporary tariff measures.
The decision provides for the application of a 30% ad valorem tariff on 23 tariff headings, broken down into 73 subheadings, corresponding to products originating in Ecuador, mainly fisheries and agricultural products.
This measure is adopted following Ecuador’s announcement of the application of a 30% security surcharge on Colombian imports entering its territory.
In this regard, the Colombian Government is also evaluating the inclusion of additional provisions, such as restrictions on the overland entry of agricultural products, including rice, as well as restrictions on the importation of “materials or inputs that may be used in the manufacture of fentanyl”.
The Colombian Government reiterated that dialogue will remain open through diplomatic and institutional channels, with the objective of “restoring a framework of shared rules and fair and predictable conditions for trade”.
The list published by the Colombian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism is attached:
