María Carolina is a commercial engineer and lawyer specialized in intellectual property, personal data protection, and new technologies law. She began her career in the private sector, advising business groups.

Since 2021, she has focused her practice on the intersection between technology and law. Through her leadership roles, she has driven the strategic management of intellectual property and innovation, as well as R&D+i projects and technology transfer processes. She has also led and advised initiatives related to compliance with the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection in higher education institutions, technology companies, and the productive sector.

She served as National Director of Industrial Property at the National Service of Intellectual Rights (SENADI), where she participated in the development of technical regulations and represented Ecuador in international negotiation processes. She has also been a lecturer at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
