David Roberto Pineda Valdivieso

Lawyer and economist with postgraduate training in Tax Law and national and international arbitration. He currently serves as an Associate Lawyer in Arbitration and Litigation at Robalino and combines legal practice with university teaching. He has participated in commercial, investment, public procurement, construction and civil law arbitrations, as well as tax, constitutional and administrative litigation. He also has experience at the Quito Chamber of Commerce and as an arbitral secretary.


David holds degrees in Law and Economics from Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. He holds a Master’s Degree in Tax Law from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar and a Diploma in National and International Arbitration from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

He currently serves as an Associate Lawyer in Arbitration and Litigation at Robalino, combining legal practice with teaching at different universities.

He has participated in commercial, investment, strategic-sector, public procurement, construction and civil law arbitrations, representing clients under various rules, including ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and domestic arbitration rules. He also represents clients in ordinary litigation, mainly in tax, constitutional and administrative matters.

He has a solid track record at the Quito Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a senior lawyer for five years and held the position of Acting Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center during several periods. Additionally, he was Coordinator of the Arbitration & ADR Commission of the ICC Ecuador Chapter.

He acts as an arbitral secretary at the country’s leading centers, working regularly with prestigious local and international arbitrators. He is a member of leading arbitration institutes at the local and international levels and is a frequent speaker at academic forums.
